We wanted to take a moment to share some commonly used hashtag definitions used across social media networks in the file transfer and synchronization side of the cloud computing business.

According to the Twitter Definition: The # symbol, called a hashtag, is used to mark keywords or topics in a Tweet. It was created organically by Twitter users as a way to categorize messages.

#Filesharing – Distribution/Access to digitally stored info, i.e. computer programs, multimedia, reports, etc. Methods of storage include transmission & dispersion, manual sharing, utilizing removable media, and servers or other devices, networks, Internet based documents, and use of distributed peer-to-peer networking. It is often used in small, mid-size and large corporate enterprises.

#Privatecloud – In technology, a private cloud is a solution that keeps data within the firewall of a small, mid-size or large corporate enterprise. This allows the information to remain within an information technology department.

. #Hybridcloud – Hybrid cloud is a technology term, sometimes referred to as a private cloud computing model. It gives organizations flexibility to manage information remotely or offsite.

#Filesynchronization Updates files in 2 or more locations via certain rules that are either
1.    One-way: (a.k.a.) mirroring, updated files are copied from a ‘source’ location to one or more ‘target’ locations, but no files are copied back to the source location.
2.    In 2-way: updated files are copied in both directions with a goal of keeping the 2 locations identical to each other.

#Datadistribution – Methodologies for small, mid-size and large enterprise corporate business that transfer data (reporting, files, etc) from server to cloud, cloud to server, computer to cloud, cloud to computer and between computers in different geographic locations.

#Cloudcomputing – Use of a network of remote servers hosted on the Internet as a solution to store, manage, and process data, rather than a local server. Cloud computing can be used by individuals, small, mid-size or large scale business enterprises.

#MFT – An acronym for Managed file transfer (MFT), a software solution that facilitates the secure transfer of data from one computer to another or from a computer to a server or from many servers to one computer.
